Thailand and India have mutually agreed for bilateral trade in gems and jewellery and might form a separate entity to promote the same. Thailand would be displaying its jewellery range of gem-studded jewellery at the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) this year.
Both countries seem optimistic to mutually gain from Thailand’s rich source of coloured gemstones and India’s growing consumer demand for gem-studded jewellery. The potential is sighted in India, as although diamonds continues to be increasing in consumer purchases, the coloured gemstones are also being sought out for by the elite fashion conscious. The international exposure fashion trends, has the Indian consumer demand stone-studded jewellery as their fashion quotient. The Thai delegation would also undertake roadshows in Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur and Chennai.
