The 10-episode Instagram-first microdrama series uses stories of friendship, ambition, relationships and social expectations to build a new narrative around jewellery and self-expression.
Mumbai: QWEEN, an experiential luxury jewellery brand, has launched ‘Drama QWEENS’, an original microdrama series created around the everyday conversations, dilemmas and contradictions that women navigate but often leave unspoken.
The 10-episode series brings together five women from different backgrounds and stages of life, with Diljot Chhabra, Simran Natekar, Samvedna Suwalka, Priya Banerjee and Rytasha Rathore playing the central characters Noor Baig, Anaya Bajaj, Natasha Prabhu, Isabella Patel and Aashi Paswan.
The narrative unfolds through a film club formed by the five women. The movies they watch become a starting point for conversations around their own relationships, ambitions, insecurities and choices.
QWEEN has taken a different approach to conventional jewellery communication with the series. Instead of making the jewellery the central focus, the brand has placed the women and their individual journeys at the heart of the storytelling.
The five characters also represent QWEEN’s brand personas — Noor as Gala Grandeur, Isabella as Party Girl, Anaya as Untamed in Love, Aashi as Femininity Reclaimed and Natasha as I Want It All.
These identities are also reflected at QWEEN’s Noida store, where individual zones have been created around each persona through design and jewellery curation.
The opening episodes tackle subjects ranging from expectations around weddings to the labels attached to women at different stages of their lives. The first episode follows a bride-to-be questioning the pressure to turn her wedding into a performance for others, while the second explores age, relationships and the timelines women are expected to follow.
According to QWEEN, the concept emerged from consumer research into the conversations women have with friends and within online communities but rarely see represented with the same honesty in mainstream advertising.
The first season draws on 10 such conversations, covering marriage, pay parity, creative setbacks, self-worth, relationships and societal expectations. Humour and female friendship form the narrative framework for these stories.
Amit Kumar, Co-founder and CEO, QWEEN, said the series was conceived to change the traditional role assigned to women in jewellery advertising.
He said the brand wanted to begin with the woman rather than with occasions such as weddings, milestones or celebrations, making jewellery a part of her story and an expression of her choices rather than the reason for the narrative.
For QWEEN, the launch also represents an extension of its positioning around jewellery as a form of everyday self-expression and personal agency.
The first season of ‘Drama QWEENS’ is now live on QWEEN’s official Instagram handle, @weareqween, with audience responses and conversations expected to influence the themes explored in future seasons.
