Ghana to sell a diamond mine

It is inviting bids until March 31

Bonaparte an Australian exploration company said that it will acquire its South African counterpart Savanna Diamonds. Savanna holds a mining license for a 3,073 hectare property and is in the advanced stages of construction and commissioning of a mining plant. The monthly prospecting for the first quarter of 2008 is expected to be 40,000 tonnes. Around the same time, Bonaparte will perform trial drilling to gauge the diamonds' grade and value. Presently, Bonaparte conducts diamond mining together with Diamond Fields off the Namibian Coast.
