India seemed to add to its list of diamond resources, as five out of 15 kimberlites in Panna and Chhattarpur districts of the Madhya Pradesh state, yielded additional traces of diamonds. The Panna mine currently produces 15,000 carats annually. Encouraged by the government granting exploration licenses to diamond companies, Rio Tinto undertook an exploratory venture that proved the presence of diamonds in the said region. The announcement for the find was made by the Mining Department of the State Government of India.
