Among the events that have rolled out during the visit of Indian minister of state for commerce Jairam Ramesh to Namibia, Namibia has given the nod for Indian firms to set up operations in the country. Accordingly, Namibia will extend the required licenses and major concessions, reports the Press Trust of India. %% Diamond India Ltd., founded by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, had shown interest in setting up a cutting and polishing facility in Namibia. A meeting to this effect was held between Namibian prime minister Nahas Angula and Ramesh. It was decided that both countries were keen on long term partnerships in diamond trading, and a joint task force would finalise its report for the same within the next two months. Besides diamonds, India is exploring partnerships with Namibia in mining, sorting, grading, cutting, polishing and jewellery manufacturing.
