Polished diamonds registered a good trading for India, in September 2008, both in terms of value and volume. Exports of polished diamonds, by 17.65 percent to $1.431 billion (Rs 61.732 billion), from the same period last year. Polished diamond imports surpassed anticipated growth figures, increasing by almost 112 percent to $726.1 million (Rs 31.77 billion). %% Exports of polished goods in volume increased by 16 percent to 4.128 million carats. Imports of polished diamonds increased less by 1.94 percent to 1.765 million carats, averaging $411.38p/c.
