ICICI bank, Indias second-largest lender, is expanding its diamond financing facilities by opening an office in Antwerp.
A fascinating overview of the history of the diamond industry in South Africa, from the first diamond ever to be discovered at the end of the 19th century to current discussions on the Diamonds Amendment Bill in the South African parliament will be highlighted in a special brochure prepared for this seminar.
The current status in South Africa is yet to be determined, as discussions on the controversial Diamonds Amendment Bill are still taking place. The seminar aims to present the views of the two main parties in the negotiation –representatives of the South African diamond industry and De Beers – that will shape the future map of the diamond industry there.
The Rough Diamonds Committee of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), headed by IDI Chairman Simcha Lustig, will hold the second seminars on rough diamond producing centers on October 30, 2005. This seminar will be dedicated to the South African rough production center and is the second among the four seminars to be held.
Varda Shine, Managing Director Designate, Diamond Trading Company (DTC); Abbey Chikane, Chairman, South African Diamond Board; Ernie Blom, President, South African Board Council and Fumanekile Gqiba (Maj Gen), the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Israel are amongst the guest speakers invited to speak on various aspects of the South African diamond industry.
