The Dubai take-in window of AGS Laboratories, LLC, managed by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), formerly the Dubai Metals Commodities Centre, recently earned their ISO 9001-2002 Certification. They are the first take-in window worldwide to receive ISO certification. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification vigorously measured the DMCC evaluating a broad range of business practices, including procedures, documentation, policies, communications, personnel and infrastructure. %% ISO is a global network that identifies what international standards are required by businesses, governments and society, develops them in partnership with the sectors that will put them to use, adopts them by transparent procedures based on national input and delivers them to be implemented worldwide. “This is important and wonderful news,” says Peter Yantzer, Executive Director of AGS Laboratories. “At a time when a high standard of business practices is more important than ever, DMCC should be congratulated on earning the very stringent ISO classification.” %% “This achievement places, once again, places Dubai and DMCC as the new worldwide gemstone market epicenter,” said Laurent Grenier, DMCC Director Colored Stones and Gem Certification Services. AGS launched their Performance-based Cut Grading System in 2005, and since then, AGS Laboratories has been implementing the Cut Grade in their Diamond Quality Documents. In the new Cut-Grading System, all facets of a diamond are measured in three dimensions rather than two dimensions. %% The measurements are used by a computer program to trace light rays traveling through a diamond. The ray-tracing program shows the quantity and quality of the light being returned to the viewer. In addition to proportion, symmetry, and polish, AGS Laboratories will also consider brightness, dispersion, leakage, contrast and spread in assigning the final cut grade.
