THE Indian government hopes to promote the gem and jewellery sector across the country by organising three to four shopping festivals per year, similar to those held in Singapore and Dubai according to reports.%%Speaking at the inauguration of a gold festival in Delhi that was organised by the Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC), Ambika Soni, the minister of tourism and culture told that around three or four shopping festivals in the country would be organized where jewellery will be one of the biggest attractions.%%The proposed shopping festivals may be held in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh among other states by 2010.
