Mumbai’s gem and jewellery fraternity welcomed the new customs clearance centre at the Solitaire Corporate Park in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb. This new location came as a relief as most of the jewellery units are in the suburbs and the new centre is easily accessible to even Mumbai’s SEEPZ export zone.

The centre was inaugurated on August 10 by the customs commissioner R.K. Mahajan. and is similar to the existing customs centre in Diamond Plaza in downtown Mumbai. It is open to all authorized customs clearance agents and houses the state-owned Mineral and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC) as the designated custodian. This centre has been set up by the B.V. Chinai Group.
