As the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) 2025 concluded, the International Institute of Gemology (IIG) highlighted its approach to industry-linked education through a structured student immersion programme held alongside the trade fair.

Rather than attending the exhibition as observers, IIG students participated through a Student Delegation Activity designed to familiarise them with the functioning of the B2B jewellery ecosystem. At JJS, students studied contemporary Polki and Jadau jewellery, heritage pieces from Bikaner, and emerging gemstone formats presented by exhibitors including Shiv Narayan, Valentine, Saanre, Mrs Marquise, Raanisaa and B.G. Jewellers.

The programme extended beyond the exhibition floor through curated factory visits. At Valentine and Achal Jewels Pvt. Ltd., students observed the jewellery manufacturing process, including design development, Polki Jadau production and quality control. A visit to RMC Gems provided exposure to large-scale gemstone cutting and polishing operations supplying international brands.

Design education formed another component of the Jaipur programme. At the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF), IIG students presented manufactured master’s project pieces, allowing industry professionals to assess design concepts translated into production-ready jewellery.

IIG’s participation was also visible at the IJ Design Awards 2025, where Rabiya Malik, an international online student of the institute, was named among the Top 5 nominees in the GIA Emerging Designer of the Year category.

Reflecting on the initiative, Rahul Desai of International Institute of Gemology, said, “Earlier, classrooms were enough. Today, education demands equal exposure to industry, process, culture, and decision-making. Immersive experiences like JJS are central to how we prepare students for real careers.”
