As per reports, India has imposed a ban on importing rough diamonds from Cote d'Ivoire.%%This step is in keeping with the United Nations Security Council and diamond industry organizations.%%A notification by the directorate general of foreign trade stated June 14, 2007 states "Import of rough diamonds from Cote d'Ivoire shall be prohibited in compliance to Paragraph 6 of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1643 (2005)."%% The United Nations, the World Diamond Council, and the Kimberley Process have placed bans on rough leaving Cote d'Ivoire after having found that exported rough had been funding weapons.
