India’s gem and jewellery exports rose 2.44% to $9.17 billion during April-July 2026, supported by studded gold, silver and platinum jewellery despite weaker diamond shipments.
India’s gross gem and jewellery exports increased 2.44% year on year to $9.17 billion during April-July 2026, according to data released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). In rupee terms, exports rose 13.58% to Rs 87,078.01 crore.
The growth was led by value-added jewellery categories, with studded gold jewellery exports increasing 21.09% to $2.24 billion from $1.85 billion in the corresponding period last year. Silver jewellery exports rose 72.19% to $508.18 million, while platinum jewellery exports increased 17.20% to $77.82 million.
Polished lab-grown diamond exports also increased 7.47% to $408.50 million during the four-month period. Overall gold jewellery exports, including plain and studded jewellery, rose 5.87% to $4.03 billion, supported by demand from the US, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK.
The performance remained mixed across categories. Cut and polished diamond exports declined 8% to $3.60 billion, compared with $3.91 billion a year earlier. Plain gold jewellery exports fell 8.46% to $1.80 billion, while coloured gemstone exports declined 13.04% to $103.54 million.
July reflected the same divergence. Overall exports were almost flat at $2.35 billion, up 0.38% year on year, while cut and polished diamond exports fell 18.23% to $876.39 million.
GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali said value-added segments had supported export performance despite the challenging global environment.
