The U.S. District Court has approved the notice and claims process for the De Beers settlement. It will publish the claim forms meant only for gem quality diamonds, on December 21. The District Court will however, decide only in mid April 2008, whether the settlement should receive final approval. If approved, the U.S. consumers and "reseller" members of the trade can file their claims till May 19, 2008.%%The payouts will occur only till late 2008 or 2009, and any trade claim that amounts to under $25 will not be paid. Jewelers of America (JA) will inform its members about the forms and filing process. Once the claim form is decided upon, it would be made available on the Jewelers Vigilance Committee's (JVC) web site - jvclegal.org. De Beers will inform the trade members about the settlement claims process through mailed notices, and inform consumers through media advertising.
