Although Belgium did see a dip in its polished diamond exports for the month of May 2008, in comparison to May 2007, the price point per carat remained high. This increased the export value by 14.1 percent to value at $1.1 billion with average per carat price at $1,390 in May. The correspondnig exports dipped by 4 percent to 792,630 carats, as revealed by AFNS. %% Most of the exports were purchased in the US market, which incaresed by 15.6 percent to value at $414 million. The per carat price point was $2,862 on average. The JCK Las Vegas Show too was held during May. The overall export figures for Belgian diamonds incraesed by 14.1 percent to $1.1 billion, and the average value per carat was at $1,390 in May.%% Hong Kong too increased its imports of Belgian polished diamonds in May by 17.6 percent to value at $100 million. In the month, Belgian also incarsed its imports of polished imports by 14.1 percent by value, to $980 million.
