Diamond exports from Botswana in April 2010, increased by 36 percent to $233.6 million, reports say. The said export figures include both rough and polished diamond exports, reports say. Comparatively, in April 2009, the country’s diamond exports amounted to $171.2 million. %% According to reports, Botswana's low diamond exports in 2009 are attributed to the economic recession which pulled down diamond trade due to low volume and low prices. As reported in Botswana’s 2009 annual report, diamond exports dipped 31 percent in dollar terms to $2.18 billion, and diamond imports slipped 17 percent to $451 million,
