In the analyses of the top 100 retail companies in America, to be published by National Retail Federation (NRF),Blue Nile stood at number 20 , while Tiffany stood at 92. Blue Nile surged ahead as being the fastest growing jewellery retail company with a growth of 23.8% in 2006 and a profit margin of 5.2%.
Tiffany made a growth of 10.5% in 2006 and was No 8. in its earnings-to-sales ratio, being 9.6%. Both Blue Nile and Tiffany ranked 25 and 81, respectively, in last year’s list.
Finlay Enterprises, a jeweller also was part of the list last year at 92 but did not feature in the current list. Finlay made an earning of $4.4 million in 2006, overcoming its loss of $55.73 million in 2005.
The list of 100 top retailers accepted only those who had $100 million or more in revenues as of the end of their most recently-concluded fiscal year
