30,000 loose diamonds on sale in first launch week

Exports of roughs scaled by 25.9% to amount to $7.64 billion, and increased in volume by 20.1% to 97.3 million carats. Imports of roughs were up by 13.6 percent to $6.77 billion and 3.7 percent to 89.3 million carats.
For Belgium, the trade of polished diamonds and roughs saw an increase in their respective exports and imports, for the first eight months of 2007.
Exports of polished diamonds increased by 13.1% compared to the same period last year to value at $6.87 billion, while it increased in volume by 11.3% to amount to 6.21 million carats.
Imports of polished diamonds scaled up in value by 9% over the eight months of last year totaling to 6.5 billion, while the volume of imports increased by 5.4% to 6.54 million carats. Pertaining to Belgium’s offerings to India, the year-to-date exports of polished diamond rose by 293% to amount to $278.25 million.
