PGI Unveils World’s First Commercial 3D-Printed Platinum Jewellery Collection

In a landmark move for jewellery innovation, Platinum Guild International (PGI) has announced the commercial debut of the world’s first 3D-printed platinum jewellery collection. Crafted by renowned Scottish-American designer Maeve Gillies, the Tùsaire collection blends platinum with titanium to create intricate necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets—each showcasing the untapped potential of 3D printing in jewellery fabrication. The launch was officially unveiled during the 5th ORIGINALLUXURY Roundtable held in Geneva in May 2025, a gathering of over 150 global leaders across the luxury, technology, and finance sectors.

While 3D printing is not new to the jewellery world, this development brings platinum—known for its strength, durability, and lustrous finish—into the spotlight as an ideal metal for innovative, high-precision manufacturing. Using advanced laser powder bed fusion, the pieces have been constructed with architectural precision, allowing for structures such as lattices, hollow forms, and highly detailed textures that are otherwise challenging with traditional techniques.

Produced by Italian technology firm ProGold, the direct metal printing process leveraged platinum’s physical and thermal properties to maximise design complexity and structural integrity. According to PGI, platinum’s high melting point, superior strength, and energy efficiency when used with laser systems make it exceptionally well-suited to this form of manufacturing.

This initiative not only introduces a new chapter in platinum’s design evolution but also positions it as a forward-looking material for future luxury markets. With platinum currently more affordable than gold, the timing of this breakthrough could help broaden its appeal to modern consumers seeking both value and avant-garde design.

The Tùsaire collection stands as a testament to the power of collaboration across design, craft, and technology, pushing the boundaries of what platinum jewellery can be in the 21st century.
